Neighbors are cautiously optimistic that a real change comes around, after watching the swift action with which city and county officials who have cleaned the property. "We're all kinda relieved to not have this in our neighborhood anymore," said James Eric, who lives nearby. "It's really said to wish for someone to leave your neighborhood, but the people that were there have been so difficult and incorrigible all this time that we're having trouble feeling guilty about the possibility of them leaving us." Since CBS first reported about the home back in 2021, the owners have been sued by Los Angeles County for hoarding, the city has spent $12k on cleaning, the home has appeared on "Hoarders," and re-filled with trash on many separate occasions.

Mactar’s big ideas has helped him flip more than 20 properties for profit, and he’s done that with the help of both Khadim, who helps curb his impulsive choices, while cool-headed Issa keeps an eye on the bottom line. Ryan and Kiki have spent all their available cash on this new flip -- it's the most they've ever spent on a residential property and it's a stress test from the start! As the local real estate market takes a nose-dive, they have to make their reno period shorter and shorter to be able to turn this property around before they see their profits go down the drain.

Although the original owner definitely had a knack for keeping the most absurd things, after the couple received the pictures of the home prior to the robbery, they knew the thief was looking for something very specific. They work day and night to clear out the junk and breathe new life into these challenging properties, turning them into gorgeous desirable homes, all in the hopes of turning a major profit. ET/PT on HGTV Canada, three brave teams of flippers see the potential value beyond the clutter, trash, and disrepair that would typically be a buyer’s worst nightmare. An influencer who bought a home sight unseen with the hopes of flipping it has revealed a host of startling items she uncovered from an enormous safe on the property - including weapons, 'blackmail' photos and rare coins. The couple could barley walk through the hoarder's home and were immediately angered by the amount of items, dirt and even dead animals throughout the home since they paid the estate $20,000 to clean their fixer upper. A realtor says she hasn’t been able to sell a house down the street because of it.

Later Tuesday, paramedics arrived to help the woman in her 90s who lives in the home. Despite the mountains of trash and some treasures, the couple continued to clean the home before finding that almost every inch of the home was soaked with rat urine. A few days later a suspicious young man claiming to be the nephew of the original owner approached Tiffany and Matt and asked if he could have everything in the large safe in the garage. "I told all the neighbors I am gonna throw a neighborhood barbecue or block party to celebrate," said Gharib. The listing agent, however, did answer the phone, and while they didn't go into details as to why the home was being sold, did note that the repeat media coverage has caused the homeowners considerable stress. They said that anytime legal action has been threatened or taken, the trash disappears — only to return at a later time.

Prior to that, Katy had tweeted that she would be hosting a special, two-hour edition of Meet The Press. Supreme Court, Trump filed his immunity brief ahead of the April 25 hearing. His lawyers mostly rehashed familiar claims that were roundly rejected by the trial and appellate courts.

Ali Velshi

My political fantasy is, she comes to visit her pal Claire McCaskill at the Lake of the Ozarks and I run into them at the grocery store and invite them over for Long Islands. Her appearance is back to normal...but I agree with you, lots of rambling...and her voice has gotten even more nasal with that uptick at the end of sentences that drives me crazy...like that Jauzzi ad. Watched yesterday and it is even more pronounced (the nasal whiney thing). House Speaker Kevin McCarthy notched a minor victory Friday as a procedural vote on the short-term spending bill succeeded. Republican Sen. John Cornyn said that senators from both parties are still discussing border provisions as the government could shut down on Saturday at midnight.

Dan Rather Says He Misses CBS: “I’ve Missed It Since The Day I Left”

For many TikTok users, the U.S. crackdown is just one more way that politicians are out of touch with young people and don’t understand how they use the internet. For them — and other skeptics of the U.S. government’s claims — the situation looks like pure political posturing between two countries with bad blood, sometimes with a dash of racism. Congress remained on track Friday morning to trigger a government shutdown this weekend, as House Speaker Kevin McCarthy suffered another high-profile defeat when the House failed to advance a last-ditch stopgap bill to extend government funding beyond Saturday.

NBC News and other networks have grappled with how to cover Trump and his allies as the former president makes a new bid for the White House. Last year, CNN faced internal pushback for its decision to feature Trump in a town hall, which turned into a rally-like atmosphere with his supporters in the audience. MSNBC and CNN also have carried portions of Trump’s speeches, but with fact checking as he continues to traffic in unfounded claims. Wallace also praised NBC News’ chief political analyst Chuck Todd who, in an appearance on Meet the Press, publicly rebuked the network for the decision, saying that McDaniel had questionable credibility. Maddow, the top rated personality at the network, is the latest NBCU personality to publicly call out news division leadership over the decision, an unusual moment where internal drama has played out on the airwaves.

Even though the White House has now signed off on the legislation, the U.S. scheme to force ByteDance to sell TikTok could still fail — an outcome that may or may not result in a ban. China has previously stated that it would oppose a forced sale of TikTok, which is well within the Chinese government’s rights following an update to the country’s export rules in late 2020. TikTok itself would also surely mount a strong legal challenge against the forced sale, much as it did when the Trump administration previously tried to accomplish the same thing through executive action. TikTok also sued when Montana attempted to enact its own ban at the state level, which ultimately resulted in a federal judge issuing an injunction and blocking the effort as unconstitutional. TikTok is based in Los Angeles and Singapore but is owned by Chinese tech giant ByteDance.

Networks have seen internal discord over other past hires of contributors, as was the case when NBC News and MSNBC tapped Jen Psaki as she was preparing to depart the White House as President Joe Biden’s first press secretary. In 2022, CBS News also got pushback when it hired Mick Mulvaney, who has served as acting chief of staff for Trump, as a political analyst. Since her departure from the RNC, McDaniel had been pitched to the networks, a common practice after elected and political officials depart from high-profile posts. There had been definite interest at other networks, with a view that McDaniel wasn’t the kind of flame thrower like other Trump allies, figures like Corey Lewandowski, the former campaign manager who went on to serve as commentator on CNN.

That relationship has raised eyebrows among U.S. officials, who warn that the app could be leveraged to further the interests of an adversary. The bill’s critics argue that the U.S. is unfairly targeting a well-loved social network when the government could be dealing with household issues that directly benefit Americans. It could be a simple administrative or scheduling issue that’s far from intriguing. But if it’s connected to the substance of the investigation, then one possibility is that Manhattan prosecutors want to call a witness besides Cohen who either wasn’t available or prepared to testify Wednesday. We got some unexpected news in the Donald Trump grand jury investigation in New York. We were all set for a potential indictment Wednesday, but then suddenly heard that the grand jury not only wasn’t going to be voting but wouldn’t be meeting at all.

In March, the House Energy and Commerce Committee introduced a new bill designed to pressure ByteDance into selling TikTok. The bill marked a fresh push by the U.S. government to separate the company from its Chinese ownership or force it out of the country. I commented about Nicolle's face during week of her Biden Live inteview.

The conversations were held in person at NBC’s Studio 6A, a facility that has been used for everything from live broadcasts featuring Chris Hayes to Hoda Kotb and Jenna Bush Hager’s “Today” hour to Megyn Kelly’s stab at morning TV. Before becoming an on-air political analyst, Wallace was in the George W. Bush administration and worked on John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign. The show primarily focuses on discussing, analyzing, and reporting on the day’s latest news in politics. Panel discussions, one-on-one interviews, and brief monologues regularly compose much of the program.

They also cited articles by Justice Brett Kavanaugh from before Trump appointed him to the nation’s highest court. But after the announcement, MSNBC President Rashida Jones assured staffers that it would be up to individual shows whether to book her and that they would not be forced to have her on as part of political analysis. That also is the case for other shows on the network platforms. They are the latest network voices to publicly criticize the decision to retain McDaniel, who was ousted as chair earlier this year. McDaniel also participated in a Nov. 17, 2020 phone call with Trump to urge Michigan Republican canvassers not to certify the results.

“Do not sign it,” McDaniel said on the call, according to The Detroit News, and offered to get them attorneys. In the Meet the Press interview, she characterized the call as one to check in on the canvassers’ well being amid threats. The network saw McDaniel as a way to increase the number of its pundit voices from the right, from a person with first-hand knowledge of the Republican party as Donald Trump has dominated. Ironically, McDaniel was ousted as Trump sought a tighter control of the RNC, installing his own allies, including his daughter in law Lara Trump as one of its leaders. Earlier in the day, MSNBC’s Morning Joe co-anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski called on NBC News to reconsider its decision.

McAfee made clear he intends to move the case forward in the meantime. But the prospect of Willis’ disqualification still looms, as eyes turn to the Georgia state appeals court. Meanwhile, Judge Aileen Cannon is flying off the handle in Florida. Indeed, the Trump appointee may have made her strangest move yet. Though she still hasn’t set a firm trial date, she thought it would be a good idea to start figuring out jury instructions.

That’s unusual enough, but she also did so in a way that seemingly embraced the former president’s bizarre theory that he could’ve deemed any sensitive government records as “personal” and avoided prosecution for stashing them. In the civil fraud case, Trump's lawyers said that their client couldn’t secure a proper bond while he appeals his nine-figure loss (a position that Trump himself then undercut by claiming that he has almost $500 million in cash). New York Attorney General Letitia James questioned the former president's inability to get a bond ahead of the Monday deadline. But my MSNBC colleague Lisa Rubin explains why James might not immediately move to seize or sell any of the adjudicated fraudster's best-known properties, like Trump Tower.

White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre Cancels ‘The View’ Appearance Due To WGA Strike

The White House’s approval comes swiftly after strong bipartisan approval in the House and a Senate vote Tuesday in favor of moving the bill forward. The White House blamed House Republicans’ “chaos, and their chaos alone” for pushing the country to the brink of a government shutdown on Friday — hours before government funding was set to run out. Throughout the day, MSNBC personalities have blasted the decision to hire McDaniel, starting with Morning Joe co-anchors Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, continuing to Nicolle Wallace, and then Joy Reid and Jen Psaki in primetime. After Maddow, Lawrence O’Donnell also added to the chorus of figures criticizing the decision, as well as Stephanie Ruhle.

Katie Phang: ‘Trump’s got the dirtiest hands of them all’ in hush money case

The campaign to force ByteDance to sell TikTok to a U.S. company originated with an executive order during the Trump administration. Trump’s threats against the company culminated in a plan to force TikTok to sell its U.S. operations to Oracle in late 2020. In the process, TikTok rejected an acquisition offer from Microsoft but ultimately didn’t sell to Oracle, either, in spite of Trump’s efforts to steer the acquisition to benefit close ally and Republican mega donor Larry Ellison. Because the U.S. has not produced any public evidence to back up its serious claims, there’s a major disconnect between how politicians feel about TikTok and how most Americans do.

Deadline was created as a late afternoon political interview and discussion show, similar in style to the network's highly successful morning program, Morning Joe. In Georgia, the Fani Willis disqualification saga isn’t over yet. Judge Scott McAfee granted Trump and several of his co-defendants permission to appeal McAfee's order letting Willis stay on the case. To be clear, this isn’t like the federal election interference case, which has been on hold since Trump lodged his immunity appeal.

Cohen was prepared to testify in rebuttal to Costello but wasn't recalled, leading observers to believe that Wednesday could have been the day for the grand jury to vote. The network saw her as someone who could provide insight into the Trump campaign, unlike other analysts. Still, it’s difficult for TikTok to more effectively organize these millions. Though the X platform, when it operated as Twitter, was highly efficient as a mechanism to share breaking news, TikTok’s algorithms make it less effective as a means of understanding what is happening minute by minute. Though TikTok users say it has become a source of news — among adults, those ages 18 to 29 are most likely to say they receive their news regularly on TikTok — that information tends to be highly targeted and asynchronous. While many users may know something is brewing in Washington, it’s likely they are less aware of the steps required to fight it, making it harder for TikTok to mobilize them.

Young said the agreement – which at the time raised the debt ceiling – was signed into law and was a commitment to reduce the deficit, protect critical programs and ensure the government would remain open. Along with other government agencies, the White House sent a message to its staff with the critical logistical instructions for preparing for a shutdown if one occurs — including a mandatory directive to furloughed employees to turn off their work phones. When it comes to White House coverage, it's a bit difficult to find anyone who's more qualified than Nicolle Wallace. She served as White House Communications Director during George W. Bush's presidency, so her expert insight into the political matters of other presidential administrations, namely Trump's now, is particularly incisive. Some folks were straight up dismissive of Meet the Press, dismissing the "special" nature of the two hours that were slotted to the program usually led by Chuck Todd, for which Katy has been sitting in while the moderator is on vacation. Maddow’s segment, lasting nearly 25 minutes, started with a history lesson of past fascist candidate campaigns for the presidency, all of which are footnotes given that the campaigns drew few votes. But Donald Trump has succeeded with the help of the Republican Party. To TikTok’s credit, if China wanted to get its hands on information about U.S. users, Beijing could easily turn to data brokers who openly sell troves of user data around the globe with little oversight. Still, that fact hasn’t stopped the U.S. government from highlighting the possibility that China could if it wanted to.

And you’re a typical, malicious, nasty, vicious name calling intolerant liberal. That’s what you liberals do, get personal and insulting when you’re outed. You’re the perfect example of all that’s wrong with the country and why we’re in the mess we’re in. I’m afraid to list my email…… you or one of your hate-filled buddies would probably bomb my house. This led many people to believe that Deadline was going the way of the bodo, but this simply isn't the case.

Capt. John Higgins, head of Metropolitan Division, which operates SWAT, said one reason the mechanized ram has not been used lately is its own limitations. No one argues that the exotic police tool has made a dent in the pervasive drug dealing that has ravaged some neighborhoods. And Antonio Johnson, who was living in the Pacoima house, was arrested in December after he allegedly sold a gram of cocaine to an undercover officer at a Van Nuys Boulevard apartment where he now lives. Meanwhile, the gaping hole in the Pacoima home that was the ram’s first target has been patched. The house is nicely painted and has new occupants. Residents of the neighborhood, who asked not to be identified, said the street is now quiet and is no longer plagued by a steady stream of drug buyers. Smaller and more maneuverable than the battering ram, it consists of a 16-foot-long steel pipe mounted to the front of a heavy-duty mechanized skip-loader, a tractor with a scoop on the front. The pipe punches a hole above a door or window and retracts, pulling the window or door out.

Between June, 1984, and December, 1985, SWAT officers helped narcotics detectives raid 68 fortified rock houses, including the four raids with the ram, officials said. But Los Angeles police contend that the ram is simply the victim of its own success. SWAT officers ride the ram during practice drills to learn to rescue hostages, raid rock houses and fight terrorists. It has been taken to the scene of several sniper incidents, although what it did once it got there is secret because of tactical considerations, a top police official said. By the time police can plan, secure and execute a search warrant, many of these dealers are gone. So far, it has been used only in practice runs, said Lt. Dale Fossey of the Sheriff’s Narcotics Division. Last month, Sheriff Sherman Block unveiled his own version of a battering ram. Called the “mobile entry device,” it can get around some of the drawbacks of the Los Angeles police vehicle. In the process, the battering ram has caused sweeping changes in the nature, if not the extent, of cocaine dealing in the city, officials said.

Inside, police found two women and three children. They recovered less than a tenth of a gram of cocaine--so little that the district attorney’s office refused to file charges. Police used the ram three more times in raiding rock houses. With years of experience in the industry, we have built a reputation for being the go-to resource for all things stock tank pools.
